John Ruane professional bio

John P. Ruane is an 11-time Emmy Award winning Producer and Founder of Counterweight Productions who brings over 30 years of experience in the media business including 25 years at NBC Entertainment, NBC TV Network, and NBC Sports as a operations producer, production manager, and operator in charge of key operations and production elements of highly-rated, prestigious, telecasts.

Over decades of broadcasting human interest narratives for the Olympic Games and other properties, John cultivated skill in discovering, developing, and weaving together dramatic story elements into vivid tapestries of sports storytelling. Shows included the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Atlanta, and Sydney, numerous NFL seasons and Super Bowls, Major League Baseball and World Series, NBA series and Finals, Championship Tennis events such as Wimbledon and the French Open to name a few.

Ruane received an Emmy Award as a producer of the public television special, “Voices in Conflict”, a school play banned by Connecticut authorities for implicitly questioning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ruane created the Beautiful Game Series®, an original film project about the significance of Brazilian soccer and culture. He fashions artistic concepts designed to inspire understanding and ethical realization of interconnected life
