Ruane is the eleven-time Emmy award winning m founder and CEO of Counterweight Productions, an umbrella for creative projects that expand the boundaries of prevailing media. He brings over forty years of experience in the media business, including twenty-five years in broadcasting at NBC.

At NBC, Ruane was a leader responsible for broadcasting thousands of hours of live and recorded programming and served as Operations Producer of Olympic coverage and many other highly-rated programs. In 2007, he established Taj Mahut, his first production house winning an Emmy for producing Voices in Conflict, a play that sparked a national controversy about freedom of speech and war.
