CHRISTOPHER GAFFNEY is an academic  geographer, journalist, and Senior Research Fellow at the University  Zurich. Chris is studying the impact of major sporting events on cities.    He was a Fulbright Scholar who wrote his doctoral dissertation on stadium usage in Argentina and Brazil. 

RENATA BORGES is an theatrical producer  and socialite who will discuss futbol’s intricate connection to all aspects of cultural life in Brazil. Borges will discuss futbol’s inspiration for artists and musicians, and how its characteristic “gingado” style distinguishes Brazilian futbol from that of the rest of the world.

LIONEL MESSI plays for the Spanish club FC Barcelona serving also as captain for the Argentine national team. Commonly ranked as the best player in the world, Messi will speak about what he has learned about futbol from Brazil.

LEANDRO BARBOSA is a Brazilian who plays  in the USA for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association.  

GUSTAVO KUERTEN is  Brazilian tennis star ranked #1 in the world in 2000. He is the best known supporter of the Avaí Futbol Club in his native city of Florianópolis.

BOM SENSO is the player's movement advocating change to the Brazilian futebol system. It's values include transparency, democracy, and improved professional administration of the game in Brazil.

FREDERICO CHAVES GUEDES is the 31 year old Brazilian striker for the FC Fluminense and a former captain of the Brazil national team.

FILIPE MASSA is a Brazilian Formula One racing driver and first Brazilian since Ayrton Senna to win the Brazil Grand Prix. Filipe is a supporter of the Sao Paulo futbol club Corinthians.
